How to Support Your Body in Spring – 3 Ayurvedic Tips

Three Simple Ayurvedic Tips

As winter begins to loosen its grip and the light slowly returns, we often feel a subtle shift within ourselves too.

In yoga and Ayurveda, spring is seen as a time of transition and renewal. The heavier, slower energy of winter begins to lift as nature moves toward warmth, growth and activity again.

Just as the earth is waking up, the body may also be adjusting to the change in season. Supporting ourselves through this transition can help us feel more balanced, energised and clear.

Here are three gentle ways to support the body as we move into spring.

Nourish with seasonal foods

During winter we naturally gravitate towards heavier, warming meals. As spring arrives, it can help to gradually introduce lighter, fresher foods that support digestion and the liver.

Think warming vegetable soups, leafy greens, herbs and seasonal plants such as nettles, which are wonderfully rich in minerals and traditionally used to support the body’s natural cleansing processes.

Eating in tune with the season can be a simple but powerful way to support wellbeing.

Move the body and circulate energy

After the quieter months of winter, the body often benefits from gentle movement to help wake up circulation and energy.

Yoga, walking outdoors, stretching and breathing practices all help to shift stagnant energy and bring vitality back into the body.

Even something as simple as a daily walk in nature can help reconnect us with the rhythm of the season.

Make space for rest and reflection

Although spring brings rising energy, the body is still adapting to change. It’s quite common to feel a little tired as we transition out of winter.

Taking small moments to pause, breathe and rest can help the nervous system recalibrate.

Practices such as relaxation, meditation or simply stepping away from busy routines for a few quiet minutes can make a real difference to how we feel.

Spring reminds us that renewal doesn’t need to happen all at once.

Often it begins with small, gentle shifts — nourishing the body, moving with awareness and allowing space to rest.
