Yoga Breathing Exercise To Help Calm Anxiety

We can all get a little stressed this time of year in the lead up to Xmas! Try this Yoga breathing exercise to help calm anxiety one of the symptoms of stress. Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana) is a balancing, calming and relaxing breath that can also encourage a restful nights sleep.

Sit in a comfortable, upright position. Close the right nostril with your right thumb and inhale slowly through the left nostril. Close the left nostril with your right ring finger, remove your thumb from the right nostril, and exhale slowly through the right nostril. Then, inhale through the right nostril, close the right nostril with your right thumb and exhale through the left nostril. Continue alternating 5 to 10 times. Once finished sit and rest for a few minutes.
